- 2025-06-18
The Benue State Government has officially declared Wednesday, June 18, 2025, a public holiday in honour of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, GCFR. The holiday comes as the President is scheduled to make a one-day visit to the state to identify with the government and citizens over the persistent security challenges affecting the region.
According to a circular signed by the Secretary to the State Government, DCNS. Serumun Deborah Aber Esq., the move is intended to enable residents of the state to come out in large numbers to welcome the President and his entourage. The visit is expected to serve as a significant gesture of solidarity and support to the people of Benue who have endured recurring security threats.
However, those engaged in essential services, including healthcare workers, security personnel, and bank staff, are exempted from the holiday to ensure that critical services remain uninterrupted during the visit.
The government is urging all residents to actively participate in receiving the President, describing the visit as a moment of reflection, unity, and hope for a more secure Benue.
