Habemus Papam! Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost Elected as Pope Leo XIV


Joy erupts across the Catholic world as white smoke rose from the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican’s bells rang out—signaling the election of a new pope. Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost has been chosen as the 267th successor of St. Peter, taking the name Pope Leo XIV.

The announcement, made from the iconic Loggia of Blessings by Cardinal Protodeacon Dominique Mamberti, was met with thunderous applause and emotional scenes in St. Peter’s Square.
