NIGERIAN ARTISTS' SPOTIFY EARNINGS SKYROCKET, SURPASS ₦58 BILLION IN 2024


Lagos, Nigeria – March 13, 2025 – Nigerian music has shattered another financial record, with royalties from Spotify alone exceeding ₦58 billion in 2024—more than double the amount earned in 2023 and five times higher than in 2022. This groundbreaking revelation comes from Spotify’s newly released 2024 Loud & Clear report, highlighting the soaring global influence of Nigerian artists.

The report further reveals that the number of Nigerian artists earning over ₦10 million in Spotify royalties has more than doubled since 2023 and tripled compared to 2022, marking an extraordinary surge in commercial success.

Spotify’s Sub-Saharan Africa Managing Director, Jocelyne Muhutu-Remy, emphasized the platform’s commitment to ensuring artists benefit financially while maintaining transparency with stakeholders. "The incredible growth of Nigerian music, both locally and globally, is a testament to the talent and creativity within Nigeria, and we are proud to support its continued rise," she stated.

Nigerian music’s global reach is expanding at an unprecedented rate, with listeners worldwide streaming homegrown artists for over 1.1 million hours collectively. In addition, nearly 250 million playlists now feature Nigerian artists, further cementing their status as a dominant force in global music culture.

With a 49% export growth in the past three years and a 206% year-over-year increase in local consumption, Nigerian music continues to thrive on both domestic and international fronts. These figures underscore the unstoppable momentum of Afrobeats and other indigenous genres, proving that Nigeria’s creative industry is not just growing—it’s booming.
