Peter Obi Debunks Arrest Rumors, Calls for Focus on Nation-Building

Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has dismissed circulating rumors about his alleged arrest as baseless and unfounded. In a statement released via his verified social media account, Obi assured the public that he is currently at his home in Onitsha, Anambra State, and not in any way under custody.

Addressing the issue, Obi expressed disappointment over what he described as a recurring trend of fake news targeted at him. He recalled a similar incident in September 2022, when false reports claimed his home had been raided by the Department of State Services (DSS) while he was away in Rwanda. This time, while in his Onitsha residence, new rumors emerged alleging his arrest in Abuja.

"Let me state unequivocally that these claims are entirely false," Obi declared. "Such fake news on my person has become a pastime for some people. The motive of these peddlers cannot be positive, but let us not allow baseless rumors to distract us from the critical challenges we face as a nation."

Obi went on to appreciate the concern and support shown by the public. He urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in their pursuit of a better future for the country, emphasizing that unity and dedication are key to overcoming the challenges currently facing the nation.
