French President Emmanuel Macron has issued a warning regarding the future of the European Union, asserting that the bloc is facing an existential crisis as it lags behind the United States and China in economic output and investment.

Macron highlighted that the 27-nation union finds itself in a vulnerable state due to excessive regulation, inadequate investment, and internal divisions. “The EU could die; we are on the verge of a very important moment,” he stated. “Our former model is over—we are over-regulating and under-investing. If we continue on our current path over the next two to three years, we risk being sidelined in the global market.”He emphasized the necessity of deepening the EU’s single market and urgently addressing these challenges to avoid a decline in competitiveness and relevance on the world stage.
