General Hospital, Ijede Leads Sensitization Campaign on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in Lagos

General Hospital, Ijede, has launched a robust sensitization campaign to raise awareness about Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) and educate Lagosians on the critical issue. The campaign, led by the hospital’s Medical Director/CEO, Dr. Olufemi Aletan, aims to provide first-hand information on identifying victims and perpetrators of SGBV.

Dr. Aletan emphasized that the Lagos State Government maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy towards SGBV. He assured that medical care and support for victims are provided free of charge by the state. Additionally, the government has implemented specialized psychosocial support systems to aid survivors, staffed by trained professionals.

Addressing the public, Dr. Aletan reiterated that perpetrators of such acts will face prosecution, encouraging victims to speak out and reclaim their power by standing against these abuses.

Lagosians were urged to become more informed and proactive in combating SGBV, contributing to a safer and more supportive community for all.
