Accident on Third Mainland Bridge Claims One Life, Injures Eight Others


A tragic accident occurred on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos yesterday, resulting in the loss of one life and leaving eight others injured.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident involved a commercial bus and a private vehicle, which collided around 7:30 am near the Adekunle axis of the bridge.
"The bus lost control and swerved into the lane of the private vehicle, causing a head-on collision," said an eyewitness.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and rushed the injured victims to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
"This is a sad reminder of the importance of road safety and responsible driving," said a LASEMA spokesperson.
The Third Mainland Bridge has been prone to accidents in recent years, prompting calls for improved road maintenance and enhanced traffic enforcement.
The Lagos State Government has promised to increase safety measures on the bridge and surrounding roads.
