My dear Rivers People,
I address you today with a profound sense of duty and unwavering commitment to the well-being of our beloved state, as we navigate this critical moment in our political history.
Since assuming office as your Governor, my decisions have been anchored in my constitutional oath and a sincere dedication to the progress and stability of Rivers State. Our administration has prioritized the security of lives and property while ensuring steady development across all sectors.
Despite the ongoing political turbulence, we have remained steadfast in upholding the rule of law and placing the interests of our people above all else. It was in this spirit that, following Mr. President’s intervention to broker peace, we took decisive steps to implement the agreed terms in good faith—including the reinstatement of commissioners who had previously resigned.
Furthermore, we acted promptly in complying with the Supreme Court’s judgment as soon as we received the certified true copy, demonstrating our commitment to constitutional order and the restoration of normalcy. These actions were taken not for personal gain but to foster peace, unity, and the continued prosperity of Rivers State.
Regrettably, despite these efforts, members of the Rivers State House of Assembly have persistently obstructed the path to genuine peace and progress. However, our focus remains unwavering—ensuring the safety and security of our people while driving sustainable development.
While political disagreements exist, governance has continued without disruption. Salaries have been paid, critical projects are progressing, and above all, Rivers State remains peaceful and secure under our leadership.
At this crucial time, I urge all Rivers people to remain law-abiding and steadfast. We will engage all relevant institutions to safeguard our democracy and ensure that Rivers State remains on the path of growth and stability.
Our resilience as a people will see us through this challenge. With wisdom, patience, and unwavering faith in our democratic institutions, we will emerge stronger.
May God bless Rivers State, and may God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS
