Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah Raises Minimum Wage to N80,000, Supporting Workers' Welfare

In a significant move to enhance the welfare of workers in Enugu State, Governor Peter Mbah has announced an increase in the minimum wage to N80,000, surpassing the Federal Government's benchmark of N70,000 by N10,000.

This decision comes as a response to the rising cost of living and the need to provide better financial support for families across the state. Governor Mbah emphasized that the new wage will help workers meet their basic needs and improve their overall quality of life.

Speaking at the announcement, he stated, “We recognize the challenges that our workers face daily. This increase is not just a number; it's a commitment to ensure that every worker in Enugu can provide for their family and contribute positively to our society.”The governor's initiative has been met with widespread approval from labor unions and workers alike, who believe it will alleviate some of the economic burdens they currently endure. Many expressed their gratitude, highlighting that this wage increase is a step toward fair compensation for their hard work and dedication.

As Enugu leads the way in addressing workers’ welfare, it sets a precedent for other states to follow, showing that investing in the workforce is essential for sustainable development and economic growth.
