President Tinubu Restructures Ministries and Ministerial Portfolios in Major Shakeup


President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the immediate restructuring of ministries and ministerial portfolios, implementing eight far-reaching actions aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency. This move reflects his commitment to delivering on his promises to the Nigerian people.

Key Actions Approved by the President:Renaming of the Ministry of Niger Delta Development: It will now be called the Ministry of Regional Development. The ministry will oversee all regional development commissions, including the Niger Delta, South East, North East, and North West development commissions.

Winding Up of the Ministry of Sports Development: Its functions will be transferred to the National Sports Commission, which is tasked with building a vibrant sports economy.

Merging of Ministries: The Federal Ministry of Tourism and the Federal Ministry of Arts and Culture will be merged into the new Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy.

Ministerial Reassignments: Ten ministers have been reassigned to new portfolios to optimize governance efficiency.

Discharge of Five Ministers: Five ministers have been discharged from their duties as part of the restructuring.

Nomination of New Ministers: Seven new ministers have been nominated, pending Senate confirmation.

Appointment of Shehu Dikko as Chairman of the National Sports Commission.

Appointment of Sunday Akin Dare as Special Adviser: Akin Dare has been appointed as the President's Special Adviser on Public Communication and Orientation, working under the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

Hon. Abubakar Eshiokpekha Momoh – From Minister of Niger Delta Development to Minister of Regional Development.

In his statement, President Tinubu thanked the outgoing members of the Federal Executive Council for their service and urged the newly appointed and reassigned ministers to view their roles as a call to serve the nation with dedication.
