Nigeria Launches Performance Management System to Boost Civil Service Efficiency

In a bid to enhance the efficiency of Nigeria's civil service, the Federal Government has officially launched a new Performance Management System. The Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, unveiled this initiative during an event at the Federal Ministry of Finance, with the Permanent Secretary, Ms. Lydia Jafiya, in attendance.

This new system is a cornerstone of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2025 (FCSSIP 25), which is part of broader civil service reforms aimed at improving transparency, accountability, and performance across government ministries. Mr. Edun highlighted that the institutionalization of performance management is crucial for boosting productivity and delivering high-quality public service.

To emphasize the importance of this reform, the Minister announced that every Thursday will now be dedicated to the Performance Management System, encouraging civil servants to integrate performance-focused habits into their daily routines. He also urged staff to maintain a strong team spirit and strive for excellence, reminding them of their significant role in serving Nigeria at the highest levels.

This initiative represents a significant step toward modernizing Nigeria’s public sector and ensuring more efficient service delivery to the Nigerian people.
