In a landmark event on October 16, 2024, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun welcomed a committee of former Inspectors-General to a historic meeting at the IGP’s Smart Conference Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja. The meeting, attended by prominent retired IGPs such as Aliyu Attah, Sunday Ehindero, Mike Okiro, Mohammed Abubakar, and Alkali Baba Usman, was held to foster discussions on strengthening the foundation of effective policing in Nigeria.
The gathering facilitated a robust exchange of ideas, where the retired IGPs shared their experiences and insights from their tenures, contributing to the evolution of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). IGP Egbetokun praised the former leaders for their pivotal roles in reforming and advancing the NPF, noting that their contributions have built the groundwork for the Force's global standing.
The retired IGPs also engaged with the Force management team, AIGs, CPs, and senior officers, offering advice on modern policing strategies and further strengthening the collaborative efforts toward improving Nigeria’s security landscape.
