The 10th House of Representatives is proposing a high-level Legislative Security Summit for the final quarter of the year.

The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, PhD, announced this during his welcome remarks at the ongoing plenary in the Green Chamber. He emphasised that the summit will focus on legislative reforms aimed at strengthening the capabilities of security institutions, enhancing inter-agency collaboration, and optimising intelligence use to combat insurgency, banditry, and other security threats.

In addition, the summit will explore strategies for community policing, securing borders, and integrating advanced technology into national defence. This initiative aims to address Nigeria’s urgent security challenges by bringing together key stakeholders, including the Executive, security agencies, policy experts, and civil society organisations.

The 10th House of Representatives prioritises improving security (Agenda Two) within its 8-Point Legislative Agenda (2023-2027). A range of legislative measures has been outlined to support the government's efforts to combat insecurity. Since its inauguration, the House has also been committed to implementing proactive legislation and policy options to enhance oversight activities effectively.
