BREAKING: LAGOS STATE’S GDP SURGES TO $259 BILLION, NOW AFRICA’S SECOND-LARGEST CITY ECONOMY

Lagos State has solidified its position as an economic powerhouse, with its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) soaring to an impressive $259 billion. This milestone makes Lagos the second-largest city economy in Africa, trailing only behind Cairo, Egypt.

The state’s economic expansion is driven by a mix of rapid urbanization, a thriving services sector, increased foreign investments, and a growing technology ecosystem. Lagos, often regarded as Nigeria’s commercial nerve center, continues to attract businesses and talent from across the globe, reinforcing its reputation as a key player in Africa’s economic landscape.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment, improving infrastructure, and driving innovation to sustain this economic momentum. He emphasized that the state’s continuous growth reflects the resilience and entrepreneurial spirit of its people.

With a population exceeding 20 million and a strategic coastal location, Lagos remains a vital hub for trade, finance, and industry. Experts believe that if the current trajectory continues, the city could eventually challenge some of the world’s largest urban economies.

As the heartbeat of Nigeria’s economy, Lagos is not just growing in numbers but also in global significance, reinforcing its role as a beacon of economic progress on the African continent.
