A group of women in Akwa Ibom State took to the streets today in protest against Senator Natasha Akpoti, condemning her recent remarks and actions, which they described as "unbecoming of a Nigerian woman."
The protesters, mostly made up of market women, professionals, and grassroots leaders, marched through major streets carrying placards with inscriptions demanding respect for cultural values and decorum in public discourse.
Speaking during the demonstration, one of the coordinators, Madam Ekaette Udom, said: "We, the women of Akwa Ibom, reject any form of behavior that does not uphold the dignity of womanhood and respect for societal norms. A female leader should be a model of virtue, not controversy."
The protest comes after Senator Akpoti's recent statements and political engagements, which some critics argue have stirred public outrage and discontent.
As of now, Senator Akpoti has yet to respond to the protest, but the demonstration has continued to generate conversations nationwide.
