Turkey's President Erdogan Urges UN to Use Force Against Israeli Attacks

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has called on the United Nations to urgently consider recommending the use of force to stop Israeli attacks on Gaza and Lebanon, particularly if the UN Security Council cannot take decisive action. Erdoğan referenced the 1950 Uniting for Peace resolution, which empowers the General Assembly to recommend collective measures, including force, when the Security Council is deadlocked.

This appeal comes as Turkey denounces Israel's ongoing military actions in Gaza, which have resulted in numerous Palestinian casualties, and recent strikes on Hezbollah positions in Lebanon. The situation has escalated tensions in the region, with Erdoğan warning that Israeli aggressions could ignite a larger conflict affecting both Muslim and Christian communities. He has also criticized the lack of sufficient action from other Muslim countries, urging them to take diplomatic, economic, and political measures against Israel to pressure it into halting the attacks.

Erdoğan's comments align with Turkey's suspension of trade with Israel and its application to join a genocide case against Israel in the World Court.
